The hit show You will be renewed for a second season by Netflix.
You, based on Caroline Kepnes’s novel of the same title, first aired on Lifetime in September 2018 and then made its way to Netflix in December 2018.
The decision to move the show to Netflix was made after Lifetime said that the second season did not fit with their business model.
Season two of You will be based on the second novel in Kepnes’ s series titled Hidden Bodies. Co-creator and co-showrunner Greg Berlanti told Vulture that the second season will diverge from the book.
The things that fans can expect to be in season two are Joe Goldberg’s move to Los Angeles and a new love interest for him.
For those of you who haven’t jumped on the You bandwagon, here is why you should.
You follows a bookstore clerk named Joe Goldberg and his obsession over a young writer named Guinevere Beck.
Joe first sees Beck when she enters a bookstore called Mooney’s.
Joe narrates the story and immediately tells the viewer that he finds her attractive and interesting.
At first, the viewer thinks this is a simple crush, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
In the next few scenes, Joe is seen stalking Beck, going so far as to even break into her apartment and steal some of her clothing. Talk about creepy.
Joe will stop at nothing to win Beck over and to keep her in his life. Joe learns every detail of Beck’s life through her social media and tries his best to keep her friends or potential new lovers out of her life.
At times, the viewer can find Joe to be endearing and a good boyfriend, and other times we are reminded of what he truly is: a psychopath.
The show is shocking at times and scary to watch. It really makes you think about how much information you post on social media and who you should trust.
The show stars Penn Badgley (Joe Goldberg), Elizabeth Lail (Guinevere Beck), Shay Mitchell (Peach Salinger), Luca Padovan (Paco) and Zach Cherry (Ethan).
