Auditions for “You Can’t Take It With You” will be held in the Little Theatre at UTM on Dec. 2-3 at 7 p.m. on the first floor of the Fine Arts Building.
The play will open during the spring and will be directed by Ken Zimmerman.
This play also has quite a bit of history behind it. The original production by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart hit Broadway in the 1930s. This play consists of three acts filled with commercial relief and a sense of family filled fun.
This play is about a family with crazy shenanigans and the mother as a sensual playwright. The father of the play works on fireworks with his buddy in the basement, and the former neighborhood iceman. The little sister is a little dancer doing her very best although she’s a terrible dancer. The younger sister’s husband loves to play the xylophone and happens to print phrases that happen to catch his ear. The two lead roles are named Penny and Tony. Penny is fed up with her crazy but lovable family and begins to fall in love Tony. Tony is a young business boy who doesn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Sound like one crazy family or what?
