Working Women’s Conference

UTM’s WestStar Leadership Program is hosting its 22nd annual Working Women’s Conference, “Aloha! Creating Paradise”, on Feb. 7. The program will be held in the Duncan Ballroom in the Boling University Center from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The keynote speaker for the event is Keli McAlister, public informations officer for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) in West Tennessee. Her address is titled, “Lei Your Burden Down: Paradise is what you make it!”

The event is comprised of nine sessions ranging from “Decorating Your Hut” to “Surviving the Gen Z.”

Other speakers during the event include Chrystal Dickson, clinical nutrition manager at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital, Paige Fisher Espey, owner of Little Yellow Door in Huntingdon, Sarah Stone Smith, founder, and Courtney Goolsby, co-founder, of Say it Southern podcast, Angie MacKewn, owner of TR Yoga in Martin, Kerri Arnold, Miss Tennessee Volunteer, Karyn Adams, principal and creative director of HA Thirty One, TBI special agents Jason Wilkerson, Nashville, Amber Lawrence, Memphis, TBI special agents, Dr. Teresa Collard, UTM associate professor of Communications, and Dr. Lisa LeBleu, UTM professor of Family and Consumer Sciences.

A continental breakfast and lunch will provided for those who participate.

Door prizes will be given away at the adjournment of the event.

Last years conference had over 200 participants.

“I have been the student intern for WestStar for almost three years, and I have gotten to see the behind the scenes planning for the conference. This year I am excited to actually attend the conference and hear all the amazing speakers,” Emma Bruner, senior Public Relations major from South Fulton, said.

The registration fee is $50 and the deadline to register for the conference is Feb. 3.
