The Skyhawk women’s basketball team has a new face at the guard position, as head coach Kevin McMillan announced today the addition of Seygan Robins, a native of Harrodsburg, Kentucky and a former Louisville Cardinal.
The 5-10 guard brings a history of success to the reigning regular season Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) champions. Robins is a two-time State Champion and a recipient of the 2018 Kentucky Miss Basketball award, according to Sports Information. Robins also has another three years of NCAA eligibility.
“We are so excited to have Seygan join our women’s basketball program,” McMillan said, per Sports Information. “Seygan’s versatility could put her in a lot of places that can help us. The thing I like the most about her is that she is a tough, hard-nosed winner after playing for Jeff Walz (Louisville), Chris Souder (Mercer County) and David Tapley (Kentucky Premier). She is a great kid and a perfect fit to the culture of our program.”
Robins played 28 games for the Cardinals over her two-season tenure with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) squad. In 2019-20, the squad cruised through the regular season with a 28-4-0 record and took home the regular season championship, ultimately falling short to the Florida State Seminoles in the ACC Championship tournament.
In her freshman campaign, Robins averaged 1.6 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game in 26 games before being sidelined with an injury that kept her out of most of the season. Robins scored a season-high of seven points against Pitt on while putting up six against UTM. In 2019-20, the sophomore only played in two games before redshirting.
UTM’s core of guards now includes Robins, juniors Emma Davis, Sade Hudson, Zaire Hicks, Kyannah Grant, Paige Pipkin and sophomore Macy Rippy for the 2020-21 season.
