What’s hot and what’s not for summer fashion?

With the final week of school approaching, it is time to get ready to relax and enjoy the warmer temperatures under the sun. However, it is appropriate to do so in the correct attire, of course. My colleague, Marques Rice, and I have curated another guide on popular fashion trends for the summer so you are not wearing full fledged winter couture on the beaches of Florida.

Let’s start with what’s hot (Paris Hilton, please don’t sue):

Mesh Slippers:

Remember those sequin mesh slippers your grandmother use to have in every different color? They’re making a big comeback among young adults who are choosing comfort over quality.

Vintage Purses:

It’s a must-have designer piece that you can pair with almost every outfit. You can find many at your local thrift store at affordable prices ranging from Kate Spade to Chanel.

Biker Jackets:

Wearing jackets in the summer sounds a bit weird. Try a cropped biker jacket to layer over a nice outfit during those cool summer nights.

Bodysuits:

This is also known as shapewear that defines one’s body. You can wear this underneath jeans if you have the type that looks like a swimsuit. Alternatively, it can be worn in a full set and be paired with comfortable shoes and stacked with some accessories to bring some spice to your look.

Asymmetrical Tube Tops:

Basically a top that either can be strapless or off the shoulder. It is so reversible that even the name is geometrical.

Waist Beads:

Accessories that can sit on your waist and not move an inch. It is popular amongst the girlies who embrace an earth-tone aesthetic.

Now, let’s get into what not to wear:

Logomania:

Can we get rid of those t-shirts with one big logo across the middle of them? No one needs to know every brand you have on your person at all times.

Leather Pants:

Just because your favorite artist is wearing them, does not mean that you need to. There is no reason to wear a skin tight pair of leather jeans on your trip to Walmart.

Monochromatic Outfits:

It is summer time, meaning that it is time to bring some color into those outfits. No one wants to be around gloomy outfits all day.

“Claw” Nails:

Having extremely long nails does not help with any daily task, especially when you add different charms to them.

Mid Length Ankle Boots:

The idea of ankle boots is cute. However, in actuality, when you are wearing them, you look like Ellen DeGeneres.

Tote Bags:

Tote bags are extremely useful when actually used, but walking around with an empty bag does not help your outfits.

Skyhawks, enjoy your summer break, but also remember to do it in style, which is only of what you make it!
