UTM punt specialist Terry Williams continued to add to his postseason honors, becoming a consensus All-American after picking up additional honors from Phil Steele and Athlon Sports this week.
Williams has been named a first team All-American by Athlon Sports, HERO Sports and Phil Steele while garnering second team honors by STATS. Williams is the first Skyhawk to earn multiple All-American honors since Tony Bell in 2014.
A native of Southaven, Mississippi, Williams boasts an electrifying skill set as a specialist and wide receiver. Williams tallied 22 punt returns for 397 yards, averaging 18.0 yards per return while ranking as the only player in the country (FCS or FBS) to return multiple punt returns for touchdowns. He ranked first nationally with 397 return yards while his 18.0 yards per punt return average ranked second followed by his 22 returns which slotted in at fourth. He broke loose for punt return touchdowns against Northwestern State (55 yards) and Jacksonville State (65 yards) while also busting a season-long 71-yard return at Eastern Kentucky. As a whole, Williams tallied 24 plays of 25 yards or more this season.
