This year The Office of Alumni Relations is hosting a Senior Walk on April 29 at 4 p.m. in the Quad.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to be in attendance to help cheer on the graduating class of 2021. This year, the University will not be hosting a graduation practice; they will instead be hosting the entire event in the Quad. The walk will begin on the patio between the University Center and the Paul Meek Library, and it will end in front of the Hall-Moody Administration Building where seniors can pick up their senior gift.
Assistant Vice Chancellor of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, Jacquelyn Johnson said why graduating seniors should be a part of the annual event.
“Students are encouraged to participate in this event as a walk in memory of all they have accomplished at UT Martin. Faculty and staff line the sidewalk and cheer you on in celebration of the significant milestone.”
Graduating senior Kayley Brooks spoke about why she feels all seniors should participate in this upcoming event.
“As a student who has attended UT Martin for four years, I have gotten to see many graduating classes do their senior walk. I have always looked up to my older peers and looked forward to the day where I too could do my own senior walk. For me, as a graduating senior, it is very important that we get to have our senior walk so that I get to have the same experience as those students that I looked up to before me,” she said.
This event is for students and faculties only. Posters, noise makers and everything else obnoxiously fun is encouraged to help send off the class of 2021. COVID-19 restrictions will be enforced and attendees will be asked to maintain social distancing and to wear masks.
