UTM suspends classes until April 3

Update:

It’s been fewer than 24 hours since the announcement that UT Martin would need to move our spring semester classes online through April 3. We suspended classes today and tomorrow to allow our faculty extra time to work on this transition and to allow our students to make preparations for the next three weeks.

I have a few updates and reminders for our students:

  • For our students living in university housing, we ask that you leave your rooms by 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 13.  Housing exemptions are being granted for those students who cannot or should not return home. If you are unable to return to your permanent home, please complete the Application for Permission to Remain in On-Campus Housing in Runway prior to 5 p.m. today (Thursday, March 12). If you have questions related to housing, please call the Office of Housing at (731) 881-7731. Only students choosing to leave for the entire 3-week period will be eligible for a refund on their housing and dining charges.
  • The UT Martin Testing Center will honor all existing appointments through Saturday, March 14.
  • The Paul Meek Library will remain open on the following schedule for the next three weeks:

  • The dining locations in the Boling University Center will be full service and operating at normal hours March 12 – 13. On Saturday and Sunday, March 14 – 15, we will begin offering a more limited menu service in the dining hall, featuring “grab and go” options.
  • New regular Skyhawk Dining Hall hours will begin with brunch on Saturday. The dining hall will remain open Monday, March 16, through Sunday, April 5, with “grab and go” meal options. Meal times will be determined based on the number of students remaining on campus.
  • If you have questions regarding your courses or assignments, please contact your faculty member directly. Remember that your faculty members are working hard to adjust their courses and need your patience as we transition to our new delivery methods.

Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these necessary changes. Please know we will continue to hold daily campus discussions and monitor new data associated with the COVID-19 virus in order to keep our campus as healthy and safe as possible. We encourage you to watch the utm.edu website for updates as we offer updated information.

Be safe.
