UTM presents Lip Sync

On Oct. 1, Student Activities Council hosted Lip Sync, a night of flashy entertainment with plenty of dance moves and laughs.

This event includes lip syncing in the categories of open division, sororities and fraternities.

Starting off the night was the Department of Housing, presenting the word “help” with a creative dorm scenario that highlighted the do’s and don’ts of campus living. The members of the Collegiate Dance Association were the open division winners, presenting the word “dance” in their routine.

Alpha Delta Pi kicked the sorority division off with the word “fire,” doing their own version of Pitch Perfect‘s “riff off” with a dance to “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys. Chi Omega danced to the Grease classic “You’re The One That I Want” while presenting the word “you.”

Zeta Tau Alpha showed the campus how to be “young” with the song “We Are Young” by Fun, while the women of Gamma Kappa Pi showed the campus why they “shine.”

Winners of the sorority division, Sigma Alpha presented the word “name” that had a creative theme about untrustworthy men.  Coming in second was Alpha Omicron Pi, who finished off the division ‘walking it out’ for their fellow sororities.

Phi Sigma Kappa opened the fraternity division showing their love for “America.” Second place winners Alpha Gamma Rho followed with wigs and a dance to “My Lips Like Sugar” by Florida featuring Wynter.

Pi Kappa Alpha was all about the word “move” and Sigma Phi Epsilon introduced the word “money” with a Great Gatsby theme.

Alpha Tau Omega showed UTM campus some “love,” while Kappa Alpha was all about “I.”

Closing out the show was Sigma Alpha Epsilon showing every “girl” at UTM what they like, and winners Sigma Chi lit up the stage with the word “stop” and kicked it old school with Vanilla Ice “Ice Ice Baby.”

The judges for the show were Katie Smith, Student Organization Coordinator; Ryan Martin Assistant Housing Director and Melanie Hollis Costumer for the Department of Visual and Theatre Arts.

This Friday, Oct. 4, the sororities and fraternities will be back with Pyramid.
