The UTM Percussion Ensemble is hosting ‘World Bizarre,’ a fundraiser benefit night on Friday, April 4.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. and will last through 9 p.m. It will take place at the Soleil Garden Center in Union City, Tenn.
There are $1 door prizes available for purchase at the event, and the attendees may purchase an unlimited number of chances to win these prizes. There will be entertainment in the form of live music, door prizes, silent auctions, free food and free beverages.
The event is hosted by the UTM Percussion Ensemble and the money raised benefits them in several ways. Dr. Julie Hill, associate professor of percussion at UTM, explains how money raised is used for the ensemble.
“Money is raised for the year round activities of the UTM Percussion Society and goes towards instruments, tuning, music, repairs and general operating needs for our musical activities which include on and off campus activities,” Hill said.
Some of the funds raised will also go toward helping with transportation costs for “Roots of Rhythm World” programs. This is an outreach program that impacts 5,000 students.
There will be other forms of entertainment and prizes at the event as well.
“There will be a Silent Auction with items such as a 20” Zildjian A Custom Ride Cymbal and a Pearl Cajon, but also non-musical items such as a Jiffy Steamer Hand Held Unit and gift certificates from area vendors. We will also have unlimited door prize tickets for drawings throughout the evening,” Hill said.
The UTM Percussion Ensemble’s goal is to see every person in attendance at the event leaving with a prize. Soleil Garden Center is located at 2317 Nailling Drive Union City, Tenn.
The event offers students with something to do on a Friday night as well as providing an opportunity to support UTM Percussion.
