Showcasing the vocal talents of UT Martin students from multiple fields of study, the voice studio hosted its semester recital in the Blankenship Recital Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024.
Under the instruction of Dr. Kwan-Yee “Amy” Yeung and Dr. Robert Mancusi, each vocalist performed a classical music piece in either English, French or Italian. The students were accompanied by pianists Dr. Chan Mi Jean, T.J. Franklin and Grace Browning.
The performance consisted of several pieces, starting with Cathleen Whitson singing Edelweiss. The concert continued with more numbers such as Kolitha Sisaltih singing Sento nel cor, Gwen Nelson singing How could I ever know, Marcus Watson singing To the Sky, Sarah Del Valle singing Take, O take those lips away, Isaiah Reed singing She’s Like the Swallow, Lily Stahr singing Caro mio ben and Paris Whisnant singing Homeward Bound. The latter half of the concert included Alayna Copeland singing Mai, Coonor Bevan singing Amarilli, mia bella, Anne Paris singing This Little Rose, Zoe Pounders singing I have lost it, Heaven help me, Chance Cornell singing Nina, Madison Butner singing When I have sung my songs and Grace McGregor singing L’heure exquise. The recital ended with My Lord, What a Morning and Si, mi chiamano Mimi performed by Vocal Music Education seniors Samuel Green and Elizabeth Bennett, respectively.
The recital was positively received by the audience, resulting in thunderous applause upon the end of each number.
