A variety of talent was displayed by a number of UT Martin Music students on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, at the Blankenship Recital Hall.
The recital started with a performance by senior Joshua Kern, who played Concerto in A Major, K. 622 (1791) by the legendary Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, demonstrating his skill as a woodwind instrumentalist. In succession, sophomore Lauren Webb performed a whimsical piece known as Flug der Schwalben (Swallows in Flight) (2010) by Tina Ternes. Following Webb, junior Clara Kallaos recited the beautiful yet frantic tune known as the Suite for Oboe and Piano (1932) by Walter Piston, expressing her outstanding abilities as an oboist. As a finale, junior Josh White performed Sonata in C-Sharp Minor (1943) by Fernande Decruck on his alto saxophone, captivating the audience through his sharp articulation and his superb tonal quality.
All of the performers are under the instruction of Dr. Liz Aleksander and Dr. Doug Owens and were accompanied by pianist Dr. Chan Mi Jean.
