UT Martin makes renovations to baseball field

The UT Martin baseball team is having their field torn up and rebuilt.

This comes as the Skyhawks’ old field was violating two NCAA Baseball regulation rules. The outfield wall was dangerous and could have caused injury if an outfielder ran into it.

On top of that, there were several dips in the outfield that made it uneven and, again, could increase the chances of injury.

To comply with those rules, the outfield wall will be padded, and the outfield will be leveled.

To add to the outfield, the field irrigation system and the draining system will be updated.

The Hitting Building costs around $550,000 while the total cost of the field is around $1.2 million. The stadium building is donor funded, though, so that eases the cost of the field by a tad.

The new field is expected to be built and finished by Feb. 1, 2025.
