The application deadline for the UT Martin SGA Travel Study Scholarship and Sandra Koch Travel Study Grant is coming up soon – 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023.

These financial assistance opportunities help support students interested in experiencing travel studies or studying abroad, and they are handled through the Center for Global Education and Experience.

According to the SGA Travel-Study application, the submission “must be accompanied by a $75 deposit (minimum), which demonstrates the applicant’s commitment to the selected travel-study/study-abroad program.” This scholarship is awarded only once per year per student based on the enrolled program and duration. Students must meet eligibility requirements prior to submission of the SGA Travel-Study application. Travel study scholarship awards funded by the SGA Committee will be applied directly to the total cost of the selected travel study experience. You may be asked to present about your travels to help highlight the benefits of traveling while in college.

The Sandra Koch Travel Award is awarded to CBGA (College of Business and Global Affairs) students once per academic year to help lower traveling costs. Students are required to be in good academic standing and need to obtain a sponsoring faculty endorsement.

Koch was an instructor for UT Martin, memorialized and honored between Gooch Hall and Business Administration Building with a memorial bench paid for by the campus and community. To read more about Koch and the memorial bench, please go to www.thepacer.net/sandra-koch-bench-memorial/.

Students receiving either scholarship must return any funds if the course requirements are incomplete or if students do not participate in the program. Additional funds may be available from departments housing their academic major. Students should reach out to their trip leaders for additional scholarship information.

For applications, full requirements or supporting materials, email Jewel Franklin at jfrank27@utm.edu or call 731-881-1023.
