Top 10 Spooky Netflix Shows

COVID-19 Halloween got you down? Looking for something to give you all the spooky vibes that you’re craving? Here is my top ten list for spooky shows on Netflix:

  1. You. This show is sure to spook you as it takes you into the mind of a stalker/serial killer named Joe who studies his victims before cleverly luring them in. This thrilling show keeps you on your toes as there are so many twists and turns. This one kept me expecting the unexpected!
  2. Ratched. This show is about a twisted and demented “nurse” who takes a job in a mental institution. If Nurse Ratched doesn’t scare you, no one will! This show is a gore lover’s dream come true. If you are easily grossed out, skip this one. Once you get past the gory stuff, the storyline is amazing. Just when you think you have it figured out; you find out otherwise!
  3. American Horror Story. With eight seasons (soon to be nine on November 13th), you will have hours to get spooky with this modern collection of horror stories. My favorite season is season 7 titled, Cult. Sarah Paulson is an incredible actress and stars in AHS. Season 7 is set in a small town in Michigan and focuses on a cult terrifying the residents of the town. A must see!
  4. Bates Motel. This show has five seasons on Netflix and is based off the classic horror movie, Psycho. Season 1 is my personal favorite on this one. You won’t want to check out of this spooky motel!
  5. The Walking Dead. Seasons 1-9 are currently available on Netflix. This show is based off a comic book by Robert Kirkman. Remember the old show, “Lost”? This is much like the zombie version of that. This show takes place years after a zombie apocalypse. The survivors struggle each day to stay alive. If zombie apocalypses are your thing, be sure to check this one out!
  6. The Haunting of Hill House. Check out this chilling story complete with two seasons on Netflix! Of course, the original season 1 is my personal favorite. This super terrifying show takes you through a “horror-drama,” if you will. Not only will this have you covering your eyes, but also mesmerized by the plot.
  7. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. This is not the Sabrina the Teenage Witch you are used to. This spooky show is much more twisted than the old Sabrina. Make sure you have time to binge watch because you will want to see all three seasons! I watched the first full season in two nights. This show will leave you longing for more. This is a dark occult version of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
  8. Penny Dreadful. You will see all your favorite classic monsters in this one with a new spin. This is a psychological thriller that dives into the origin stories off the classic horror stars you thought you knew. Three seasons available to stream now.
  9. Santa Clarita Diet. This show is sure to surprise you, creep you out, mess with your gag reflex and make you laugh all in one! This one is what I would call a “horror-comedy.” The shock value alone will make you laugh in disbelief. Without giving too much away, I will say this: if people eating people makes you vomit, maybe skip this show! Three seasons out on Netflix now.
  10. The Twilight Zone. This show is an oldie but goodie. With twists and turns around every corner, it is sure to keep you wanting more! The Twilight Zone first aired in 1959 and has a lot of black and white episodes adding to the spooky factor that is…. The Twilight Zone! This show is one of my personal favorites because it makes you think. It allows you to explore your imagination.
