TikTok songs that are actually good

As many of you may or may not know, I have genuinely spent time trying to navigate the algorithm for TikTok fame… and as many of you know, I remain unsuccessful. Either way, to my surprise, a lot of the music that I have stumbled across on the site is actually good, so, I made a playlist for kindred souls like myself who are confident enough in themselves to say that Tiktok introduced them to new music.

  1. “Apocalypse” by Cigarettes After Sex. I’m not 100% sure why I was surprised to like this one. I mean, a discreet indie band?? Sign me up.
  2. “You’re Somebody” by Flora Cash. This one primarily wrecks my life because it can be found in quite nearly every edit that I have ever cried over on TikTok. I love a good surprise cry at 3 a.m.
  3. “Feel Something” by Bea Miller. Bea Miller’s voice is so soothing. I’m very grateful this song exists, yes, but I am even more grateful that people edited it together with Labrinth’s “Still Don’t Know My Name.”
  4. “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa. When I first listened to this entire song, I can’t even explain to you how surprised I was that she only says “Did a full 180” once. If you know, you know.
  5. “Savage” by Meg Thee Stallion. Need I say more?
  6. “Body” by Meg Thee Stallion. Again: literally what else can I say?
  7. “Roxanne” by Arizona Zervas. I accidentally memorized this one and love to yell-sing it anytime, anywhere.
  8. “Say So” by Doja Cat. This one, if I’m honest with you, is only on here because the TikTok dance is fun.
  9. “Death Bed (Coffee For Your Head)” by Powfu ft. Beabadoobee. It’s something about outrageously long song titles that just make me wanna bust a move.
  10. “Stunning” by Curtis Waters ft. Ham Franklin. Perfect song to play AS. SOON. AS. SUMMER HITS. I am truly counting down the days.
  11. “Refiner” by Maverick City. I can honestly tell you all that I was not really a Maverick City fan before TikTok– not because their worship songs are bad or anything like that, I just hadn’t heard them. This one, though– really gets me in the good cry mood.
  12. “Roses” by SAINt JHN (Imanbek Remix). I want this song to play whenever COVID is old news and we walk into rooms with more than 8 people and only be panicky because of social anxiety. It’s truly an ideal bop to sashay into a room to.
  13. “Put Your Records On” by Ritt Momney. This one is so pleasant. I want it edited into the movie that I know someone will end up making about my 20’s.
  14. “Therefore I Am” by Billie Eilish. 10/10 could fall asleep vibing to any and all of Billie’s songs, but this one in particular made the list because of its trend on TikTok… you know the one.

I hope you enjoy! Also follow me on TikTok @aylexismillsaps. x
