Martin Police responded to a call Thursday, May 1 about the former Alpha Tau Omega house being vandalized.

Stephen Johnson of Greenfield, Tenn., William Christian Cousar of Union City, Tenn., Kellen Phillips of Martin, Keagan Parker of Alamo, Tenn., Mitchell Langley of Medina, Tenn. and Jemarri Crawford of Martin, were identified as the suspects.

All suspects have been charged with Aggravated Burglary with an additional charge of Felony Vandalism added to Johnson, Cousar, Phillips, Parker and Langley.

“MPD received a call about an open window at the old vacant ATO fraternity house. Patrol officer Rubio responded to the call at approximately 6:45 p.m. and upon entering the premises discovered the vandalism, which is initially estimated at approximately $7, 200,” according to the police report.

The report also states that all of the suspects except Crawford met with Officer Rubio at MPD and provided written statements of the incident. Crawford later met with Officer Rubio and stated that he was present at the Pike house when the incident occurred, but did not enter the ATO property. This conflicts with the statements of the other suspects, who place Crawford inside the ATO house, which is located at 224 Hannings Lane, during the time of the incident.

Cousar is a freshman Health and Human Performance major. Phillips is a freshman Exploratory Engineering/Natural Sciences major. Parker is a sophomore Biology major. Langley is a freshman Health and Human Performance major. Crawford is a freshman Health and Human Performance major. Johnson is a current student at Jackson State Community College. Cousar, Phillips, Parker and Langley are all members of the UTM chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

ā€œThe fraternity did not act as a whole. Six people were involved; it was all individual acts. Martin Police is investigating and the fraternity is offering full cooperation,ā€ said Pike president Jacob Harris, a junior Health and Human Performance major.

The suspects were booked at the MPD and later transported to the Weakley County Sheriffā€™s Office.

All suspects are scheduled to appear in court on May 21 at 8:30 a.m.
