Student Health will host its annual “Chill Out Zone” during finals week on Dec. 8 and Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the University Center.
With finals approaching quickly, many college students are in their dorms rigorously going over study guides and course materials. Finals week is typically one of the most stressful weeks of any college student’s life. This year, however, Student Health is hoping to turn that stressful week into a week of relaxation and serenity.
The “Chill Out Zone” is created to help reduce the stress of students during finals. Student Health has requested that students who believe they need a break from studying or need to take a breather from continuously reading over course materials to come out and relax and relieve some stress.
Snacks will be provided free of charge, on behalf of the Student Health Center. In addition, the center will offer various activities. These activities include yoga sessions, stress ball giveaways, Mind Spa sessions, and a labyrinth.
Student Health also offers six suggestions for students who are nervous about their performance on their tests during the week. These suggestions are:
• Get enough sleep the night before the exam.
• Resist the urge to party on “off” days.
• Arrive on time for the exam.
• Do not be too relaxed about the final. Remember to take initiative and study for exams.
• Make time for “renewing” activities, such as the activities provided by the Student Health Center.
• When the exam is over, let it all go. Move on from the previous test to another one, or leave for home and enjoy the break.
The Student Health Center is located on campus between Cooper Hall and University Village. It is designed to help any student who may be having any health issues or who may need counseling.
