Sodexo and Skyhawk dining host events

The Skyhawk Dining Hall has several events that are happening throughout the remainder of the semester.

On Oct. 23, you can pick a pumpkin up from the dining hall. Then, take your pumpkin home and decorate it however you like, and return your pumpkin by Oct. 30. Voting for the favorite pumpkin will happen on Oct. 31 by the students of UT Martin during lunch.

For dinner on Oct. 31, there will be a costume contest. The contest is open to students, staff and faculty. Prizes will be given in three categories; scariest costume, funniest costume, and most unique costume.

Additionally, Sodexo has a fun interactive way for students to engage with the different dining facilities. Sodexo has its own spin-off of ‘Elf on the Shelf’, and his name is Jack. Jack the Pumpkin has invaded the University Center and is hiding somewhere in one of the dining facilities. From the beginning of October until Halloween, if students see Jack and take a picture with him, they can submit it to one of the dining hall’s social media pages with the hashtag #findjack for a chance to win prizes. Find Sodexo dining services on Facebook: UT Martin Dining Services, Instagram: @utmdining, or X, formally known as Twitter: @UT Martin Dining Services. Jack will be hidden somewhere different daily.

Finally, Sodexo will begin offering a catering service just for students. ‘Square Tomato Catering’ has items for $5 and under. Students can go to utm.catertrax.com to make an order. Orders from kitchens that students may choose a meal from could be picked up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. after an order is placed.

In September, Skyhawk Dining Hall welcomed Chef Harold. He’s been cooking for over 40 years. Originally from Memphis, he cooks and sells his own BBQ.

These events will be posted on the marquee in front of the Dining Hall. For more information, contact Sodexo at 731-881-7770.
