The UTM Skyhawk’s soccer team defeated the Bethel Wildcats 6-0 Wednesday night on the Skyhawk Field.
The Skyhawks (2-0) controlled the ball for most of the game and didn’t allow Bethel a shot. Skyhawks also scored 5 goals in a span of 10 minutes during the first half.
The scoring kicked off when UTM’s Saphyra Coombs-Jones scored her first of two goals with an assist by Mariah Klenke in the 14th minute. Coombs-Jones then scored an unassisted goal in the 16th minute.
The Skyhawks then went up 3-0 when Ashlie Watson scored her first of two goals with an assist by Ellie Myrick in the 20th minute. Rihanna Jarrett then scored her third goal of the season in the 22nd minute off an assist by Watson. Watson then scored her second goal of the game off an assist by Eva Heller in the 24th minute.
UTM didn’t score again until late in the game at the 84th minute, when Heller scored with an assist by Watson and when the final buzzer sounded, the Skyhawks won 6-0.
Watson and Coombs-James each had two goals Wednesday night and Watson also had two assists.
The Skyhawks will face Indiana State Sunday, Aug. 31 at 1 p.m. at Skyhawk Field.
