University of Tennessee at Martin head volleyball coach Jaclynn Wilson has added five players to the 2020 roster as Dylan Mott, Addy Vaughn, Baillie Kearns and Kambree Lucas will each join the Skyhawk program as freshmen next fall.
“We are ecstatic to add these five high-quality individuals to our indoor and beach programs,” Wilson said. “All of them come from winning high school programs and we can’t wait to watch their development over the next four years.”
Dylan Mott, DS/OH, 5-8, Fr., Hendersonville, Tenn. (Hendersonville HS)
Coming off a prolific career at Hendersonville High School under head coach Jason Sloan…Was part of a 2019 Lady Commando squad that qualified for the region tournament for the first time since 1999, chalking up All-Sumner County “Hitter of the Year” and All-District 10-AAA accolades along the way…Tallied 391 kills (3.4 per set) on a .278 attack percentage, 44 service aces and 201 digs (1.8 per set) as a senior, helping guide HHS to a District 10-AAA regular season and tournament runner-up finish…Named to the Region 5AAA All-Tournament squad as well as the District 10-AAA All-Tournament team…Dialed up 344 kills (4.0 per set) on a .264 hitting percentage, 56 service aces and 180 digs (2.1 per set) during her junior campaign…Is the daughter of Austin Peay head volleyball coach Taylor Mott.
“Dylan is strong and skilled,” Wilson said. “She will add some needed ball control to our roster. She has literally grown up in the sport and possesses a very high volleyball IQ.”
Addy Vaughn, S, 6-0, Fr., Fort Recovery, Ohio (St. Henry HS)
Was a four-year standout playing for head coach Tricia Rosenbeck at St. Henry High School…Captured All-Midwest Athletic Conference first team honors in all four seasons (first team in 2018-19, second team in 2017, honorable mention in 2016)…Was an All-Ohio Division IV first teamer in back-to-back seasons (2018-19) and was named the Division IV West Division Player of the Year as a senior, helping the Redskins collect a 23-3 overall record with an 8-1 MAC record…Posted a cumulative stat line of 1,819 assists, 535 kills, a .199 hitting percentage, 106 service aces, 120 blocks and 716 digs in her decorated prep career…Established career-highs in hitting percentage (.228) and assists (734, 9.2 per set) as a senior while posting career-bests in kills (164, 2.1 per set) and digs (207, 2.6 per set) during her junior year…Generated a triple-double (19 kills, 30 assists and 14 digs) in the district semifinal victory against Marion Local during her junior season…Piled up a career-high 35 service aces as a freshman in 2016.
“Addy is going to do great things for our program in the future,” Wilson said. “She has had a tremendous high school career and we are anxious to work with her in our gym.”
Kambree Lucas, OH, 5-11, Fr., Brazil, Ind. (Northview HS)
Developed a reputation as one of the best outside hitters in the state of Indiana at Northview High School…Accounted for 1,400 career kills over her remarkable high school career playing under head coach Erica Garrison…Helped lead the Knights to a 36-3 record and a Class 3A state runner-up finish in 2018, winning 21 consecutive matches and taking 59 of 61 sets leading up to the state championship match…Ranked in the top-five in the state of Indiana in both kills per set (5.9) and kills (408) while hitting .312 as a senior, racking up All-Western Indiana Conference accolades…Shattered the NHS record for most kills in a single match three times during the 2019 season, leaving with the mark of 35 kills set against Edgewood on Aug. 29…Also boasted matches of 31 kills (in just three sets) and 32 kills in her career…Accumulated a school single-season record 498 kills (3.6 per set) with career-bests of 416 assists and 50 service aces during her junior campaign, culminating in an appearance in the Indiana Junior All-Star Game…Scooped up 655 career digs, including a career-high 2.9 per set average as a senior.
“Kambree is a very powerful player,” Wilson said. “She hits the ball hard and fast. Pair that with a great vertical and she will be a fun player to watch.”
Baillie Kearns, L/DS, 5-3, Fr., St. Louis, Mo. (Lindbergh HS)
Starred at Lindbergh High School under head coach Rob Langevin, where she split time between setter and libero…Was part of a Flyers squad that posted a 25-7 overall record in 2019…Posted 1,070 assists and 72 service aces over her final two seasons to go along with 414 career digs at the varsity level…Distributed 628 assists in addition to career-highs of 198 digs and 55 kills as a senior, ranking second in the Suburban Conference with 8.72 assists per set…Handed out 26 assists in a two-set sweep over top-ranked Oakville on Oct. 21…Posted a .350 hitting percentage and ranked second in the Suburban Conference with 39 service aces during her junior campaign…Also made a name for herself as a leader on the defensive back row for the Rockwood Thunder Elite club team, who took part in the Under-17 open division of the 2019 USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championships in Indianapolis.
“Baillie is very strong defensively,” Wilson said. “We’re really excited to add someone with her level of training and skill to the roster.”
Olivia Lucia, MB, 6-0, Fr., Piqua, Ohio (Lehman Catholic HS)
Was a two-time All-Ohio second team honoree for head coaches Greg Snipes and Carolyn Dammeyer at Lehman Catholic High School…Chalked up 2019 Northwest Central Conference Player of the Year accolades after helping the Cavaliers to a 20-5 record and an unblemished 8-0 conference mark…Nabbed first team All-NWCC and all-region honors in back-to-back seasons (2018-19)…Amassed 821 kills (3.3 per set), a .385 attack percentage, 113 service aces, 226 blocks (106 solo) and 511 digs over her final three seasons as a prep standout…Set career-highs in service aces (63), blocks (108, 1.3 per set), and digs (280) during the 2019 campaign…Put away 334 kills (3.9 per set) on a sizzling .470 hitting percentage as a junior…Also hit .449 with 227 kills as a sophomore in 2017…Took part in the 2019 Ohio Senior All-Star Game, selected as one of 23 players from the state’s Division I and IV squads.
“Olivia is very quick and springy,” Wilson said. “She sees the court well and plays a smart game.”
These five will join a UTM program that produced its first winning season in Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) play since 2011, finishing in a tie for fifth place in the final league standings.
