The UTM Student Government Association is kicking this semester off with Student Appreciation Week.
The week consists of six events designed to give back to the students. SGA is not asking for anything from the student body. They are giving back with coffee and donuts, giveaways, tailgates and other events designed with the student in mind.
The SGA Executive Council said that Student Appreciation Week was created because they believed they could do a lot more to show the students that they cared about them. They feel that without students, there would be no SGA.
Devin Majors, SGA president, said that he is very excited for the week and he believes that they will make a lot of students happy.
“We have a good mixture of both fun and important things like voter registration drives planned,” Majors said.
He believes that the week will be a success and hopes that all students will come out and kick it with SGA.
On Monday, Student Appreciation week kicks off with free donuts and coffee outside the UC at 7:30 a.m. SGA encourages you to stop by and pick up breakfast on your way to class.
On Tuesday in the UC, SGA is giving away merchandise in addition to hosting a voter registration table. This event will take place from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Wednesday, SGA is appreciating student athletes by attending practices and passing out Gatorade and snacks to select sport teams.
Thursday, the Executive Council will deliver a “State of SGA Address” in Watkins Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. The SGA President, Vice President and Secretary General will address students on the current state of affairs of the SGA. Food will be provided and all UTM students are encouraged to attend.
On Friday, SGA will hand out SGA and UTM swag to students. SGA will be set up from noon-2 p.m. in the UC hallway.
