On April 1, the candidates for the executive positions of the 2024-2025 SGA session met with several other members of the community and members of their own party, UTM United. Although officially called a debate, the elections commissioner, Iman Ahmed, acknowledged that since only one party was running for SGA in this upcoming election, the debate was really meant to showcase the proposed platform for the party. Madeleine Griffey, who is running for SGA president, started the debate by stating the four main goals of the party platform: bringing in more resources for student success, improving campus parking, offering greater accessibility to students who need it, and improving campus safety. After Madeleine laid out their party platform, Taylor Cantrell, who is running for Vice President, and Scarlett Cook, who is running for Secretary General, joined her in answering questions from both the elections commissioner and the audience. The debate concluded with the candidates asking for audience members to vote on April 9 and to spread the word as well.
