When I first came to UT Martin for a visit, I toured the Communications department with Dr. Nanney. As he was giving the tour, we passed a class in session; the instructor saw that we were walking by, smiled so big, and immediately came to introduce herself. She was so delighted to meet me and made me feel so welcome. At that point, I knew that I was making the right decision to join the Communications department. Oh, and that professor was Ms. Tomi.
The second thing that I knew that day was that I was dealing with good people. I was most certainly right. Transferring from a different school is hard, but I felt at home when I walked into Communications classes.
I was introduced to The Pacer from the very beginning and wrote articles here and there my first years, but then, when the sports editor graduated, I took the opportunity. As my involvement with The Pacer grew, so did my relationships. I have gotten to know the most genuine people. The Pacer meetings on Monday nights always made my day.
I want to say “thank you” to the staff and my fellow employees of The Pacer for always being patient with me and my soccer schedule. I was so happy to be a part of The Pacer because it gave me the opportunity to fulfill my other passion, writing, when I wasn’t on the soccer field.
I will miss everyone dearly!
