To celebrate the return of fall, the Housing Department at he University of Tennessee at Martin hosted a “fall festival” on the lawn of University Village Phase 2 (UV2).
The event took place the evening of Thursday, Oct. 4, beginning at 5:00 p.m., and included games, snacks, and fall festivities.
Students were encouraged to stop by and partake in many of the fall-themed activities the Housing Department hosted, such as pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, soda bottle ring toss and pumpkin bowling. The event also included snacks, such as a customary nacho bar, hot chocolate and apple cider for refreshments and a “build your own” caramel apple bar.
As students met on the UV2 lawn, festivities could be seen, smelled and heard on campus. Pumpkin painting and pumpkin carving were two of the biggest events taking place, with pumpkins lined along the common area for students to grab and begin carving and painting. Chairs sat around a fire pit mixed with the mild autumn air brought in the relaxing feeling and elements of autumn.
Students were asked to show their event passes via the Corq App and once signed in the festivities were ready to commence.
Students could stand in line and make a small bowl of nachos with a multitude of toppings from hamburger to jalapeños, grabbing a warm cup of apple cider and hot chocolate at the end of the first table. The second table allowed students to grab sliced apples in a small fall-themed disposable bowl; melted caramel, chocolate or white chocolate sauce; and then candies and savory toppings for the slices.
Refreshments such as water and fruit juices were also served.
On the main lawn, guests gathered to carve and paint their own unique pumpkins. Pre-made designs for carving were given out, or students could utilize their own creativity to carve spooky creations! Along with this, groups of students and friends simply had an opportunity to socialize over the exciting festivities of autumn.
