Rihanna made her return to music after being absent for seven years.
Last fall, the singer announced she would perform at the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show. Fans were beyond excited to see the pop star perform her greatest hits on a big stage like the halftime show. Also, in an interview, Rihanna said she would bring a “special guest” on stage. That guest would be her newly revealed baby. She is expecting her second child with her rapper boyfriend ASAP Rocky. The pair have been confirmed together since 2021.
Rihanna brought 118.7 million viewers, which is the second most-viewed halftime show since Katy Perry in 2015. The set list of songs for the show was ”B- Better Have My Money,” “Where Have You Been,” “Only Girl,” “We Found Love,” “Rude Boy,” “Work,” “Wild Thoughts,” “Pour It Up,” “All of the Lights,” “Run This Town,” “Umbrella” and finally “Diamonds” as a closer.
This show was a big step for Rihanna with this being her first performance in seven years and her first performance at a halftime show. However, there is no confirmed new music coming from the singer. Rihanna has said that there will be a wait for new music. Due to her pregnancy and status as a businesswoman for her brand Fenty Beauty, which helped make her a billionaire, fans think music is not likely.
On the other hand, there have been rumors of Rihanna performing her song “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the Oscars, which scored the singer a nomination for Best Original Song. That has not been confirmed by Rihanna’s team or herself, so we will have to wait and see.
Whether Rihanna comes back to music or not, this is the biggest thing in the artist’s career thus far. Rihanna has been making history with her music, with most of her songs hitting the Billboard 100 and her releasing nine albums back-to-back from the early 2000s through 2016. When the popstar does return, I believe it will be huge for the music industry.
