The status of the fourth season of popular TV show Rick and Morty is currently in limbo.
The show, which airs on Adult Swim, has not yet been confirmed for a fourth season. Co-creator Dan Harmon made a statement on Twitter on April 3, regarding the status of the show, saying that the season has “not been ordered.”
When asked on Twitter about the possibility of Netflix, Hulu or Amazon picking up the show and if Adult Swim has the ability to block incoming deals, Harmon said, “Someone would have to buy it I guess? Maybe they figure that’s a better way to make money…my instincts tell me we’re due for a ‘return threshold’.”
According to Newsweek, whether Harmon’s comment is based on knowledge of the contract negotiations or another reason is unclear. With the popular status of Rick and Morty, it is hard to see the show struggling for a season renewal. It seems likely that the show will return in some shape way or form in the near future. The popularity of the show isn’t a problem; contract negotiations are simply the reason why the new season is taking time to come out.
To satiate fans of the show, Rick and Morty will be crossing over with the popular game Dungeons and Dragons, according to CBC. Troy Little, an artist for the new adaption of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, is taking part in the graphic novel crossover. Little is known for his work in graphic novels and comics.
Even though fans of the show will have to wait a little while longer for a new season, they will at least have new content to sink their teeth into in the meantime.
