Last Thursday night, on Sept. 8, Uncle Kracker played at the Soybean Festival, spreading the joy of his music to the town of Martin.
With Martin being such a small town, there’s not always a multitude of big events like this to go to. So, looking at the crowd that night, the excitement could be seen on everyone’s face and the bonding experience taking place. People of all different backgrounds, and even different towns, were there, soaking in the good music and good vibes.
Uncle Kracker is by no means a small artist. He has produced many albums at the top of the charts, including popular songs like, “Follow Me” and his recent hit,”Smile.”
Genre-wise, Uncle Kracker covers a broad spectrum. In the 90s, he began with a more rap and rock feel, and as the years progressed, he moved on to country music, becoming friends with artists like Kenny Chesney.
So, Martin, being a rural town in the South, has a great make-up of people to enjoy the sound of Uncle Kracker, and a general look around the crowd that night revealed that people did enjoy it immensely.
At the show, he played all the famous hits that almost everyone knew, but he also played a few obscure hits, like the song, “Letter to My Daughters,” where he shared a personal story about what it’s like for him to be on the road constantly and miss his daughters at home.
However, what was so special about this concert was that many of the songs he played were known by almost everyone in the crowd, so people could dance and sing together, even if they had never seen each other until that moment. This is what true music does, brings people together, people who wouldn’t always go together under normal circumstances, and evokes them to step out. Uncle Kracker’s performance did just that, and gave the people of Martin a night to remember.
