Anchorman 2 was released Dec. 18 and was, overall, an excellent movie in many ways.
For one, the movie has many big-time actors and actresses in it. Kristen Wiig plays the new love interest, Chani Lastnamé, of weatherman Brick Tamland, played by Steve Carell, and James Marsden portrays Jack Lime, the new rival of Ron Burgundy, played by Will Ferrell. There are also appearances from Kanye West, Harrison Ford, Jim Carrey, Will Smith, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, to name a few.
Anchorman 2 is a continuation of the story of Ron Burgundy, who went from San Diego’s top-rated newsman to a big-shot newsman in New York City with his wife and co-anchor, Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate. The story begins with him losing his job to his wife. After losing the anchor job and having a mental breakdown while working at Sea World, Burgundy finds his old studio friends, Brick Tamland, Brian Fantana, played by Paul Rudd and Champ Kind, played by David Koechner to start working at one of the first 24-hour news channels, GNN.
It is hands down one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. While this is the continuation of the first movie, you can survive watching this movie without seeing the first. I never watched the first movie and still loved every minute of the second movie. My favorite character of the movie was Brick because of how socially awkward he was. I found him to be the funniest.
Even though I enjoyed the movie overall, my least favorite part of it was the last 15 minutes of it. I thought it was totally irrelevant to the rest of the movie, because I didn’t understand it. The movie was long to begin with, and I think it could have been shortened, leaving out the last 15 minutes. It would have been just as good, if not better, if the ending would have been cut out.
The overall story line of the movie was good and funny. Even with its humor, it still had a good message of putting family first, because at any moment, a job or possessions can be taken away from you, while true family and friends last. I would definitely suggest going to see it if you have not.
