Results of the 2015 SGA elections

UTM’s Student Government Association held its 2015 elections on April 7, 2015.

In order for elections to be held, the elections commissioner must out an elections packet to the student body. Each student can either run as part of a party or as an individual. They must then acquire 25 to 50 signatures from students, depending on the position they are seeking and then must take and pass a constitution test in order for their names to appear on the ballot. Then the election is held and winners are announced.

Here are the winners of the 2015 SGA elections:
President: Rachel Wolters with 71.53 percent of the vote
Vice President: Josh Diltz with 76.73 percent of the vote
Secretary General: Elizabeth Packard with 81.68 percent of the vote
Attorney General: Nathan Daniels with 72.52 percent of the vote
Student Defender: Amberly Baker with 69.80 percent of the vote

There are other positions voted upon during the election such as the SGA Justice, which holds five positions and the Student Trustee position.

There are also representatives from each college on campus: Agriculture and Applied Sciences; Business and Global Affairs; Health, Education and Behavioral Sciences; Engineering and Natural Sciences; Humanities and Fine Arts.

The college of Health, Education and Behavioral Sciences has twelve chairs while all the others hold four because it is the biggest college on campus.
