PRISM returns to the Old South Pittsburg Hospital

While you were bathing in the sun on the beach or working this past spring break the Paranormal Research & Investigation Society of Martin returned to one of the most haunted places in the south in hopes of capturing evidence of paranormal activity.

Austin Orman who is a member of PRISM and a newcomer to the location said “it was a once in a lifetime experience and I experienced some things that I will never forget.” PRISM Team Manger Crystal McBride said, “I have been hearing about this place since I joined last year and it did live up to it’s reputation and surpass it.”

Along with myself there were five other members of the organization including, Crystal McBride, Carrie Lavery and Mathew Millhorn who attended the event.

Instead of telling you about the investigation logistics I will focus on of the most interesting experiences we had of the stay.

On the first day of investigation (yes, paranormal activity does occur during the day) we had an experience with one of the many children spirits that remain at the hospital. Our Team Manager, Crystal McBride, and I were using the K2 meter (a meter that detects fluctuations in EMF or electromagnetic fields) in the old Emergency Room when we began to get a lot of unexplained fluctuations and some even in direct response to our questions.

After this session we moved into the dark foreboding hallway only to realize the meter was staying at an unexplained constant level around the height of a child. We told the child to follow
us by holding onto the meter. The child walked with us all the way across the hospital to the 2nd floor nurses station. The most interesting thing about this experience happened when the fluctuations stopped after we passed a toy and then the fluctuations resumed when we went to the toy.

The second best experience happened again during the day on the day of our departure. A few of us were on the third floor near the psychiatric ward heading to the end of the hallway when all of a sudden we heard a disembodied female voice very clearly say the word “hello”. In all of my seven years of being an investigator this was perhaps my best experience.

Overall, it was a great two-night stay and if you don’t believe in ghosts then I highly recommend you visiting www.hauntedhosptial.net and book your stay at this historic location.

On a side note, because of a heavy increase in PRISM’s  popularity and caseload we are seeking new members. You may apply online at our website or contact us.
