Taking the main stage a little earlier than originally scheduled due to weather conditions, The Peacemakers made their debut to the Martin community. The Peacemakers have an interesting history behind how they came to be.
In 1986, on request from the late Memphis Police Director John Holt, a group of Memphis police officers formed together for Memphis’ first police memorial service. Ever since they began, The Peacemakers have performed in front of more than one million people.
Songs that they sang ranged from gospel and patriotic to some old school R&B and country. The group of six retired police officers was very good at harmonizing when singing old gospel songs that tugged at the heartstrings. One of their original songs “Rights of Freedom” has been chosen as the theme song of the National Police Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The Peacemakers closed with “Rights of Freedom” and thanked the community of Martin for supporting them.
