As students prepare to return to the UTM Campus, the Paul Meek Library is also gearing up for students to safely utilize their space during the fall semester. Due to COVID-19, there are some major changes to the library’s operation that students should be aware of.
Library staff says students should be aware that wearing masks and social distancing will be required while in the Library. Furniture has been rearranged and computers have been marked off from use to allow for ample social distancing. The Library is providing masks to students upon entry to the building if they are in need of one. There will also be multiple hand sanitizer stations located throughout the facility, and students are encouraged to sanitize/wash their hands frequently while in the Library.
Students should also be aware that the study rooms can now only be occupied by one person at a time. The larger study rooms will allow for two to three students to work together while still practicing social distancing. Chairs have been removed from the study rooms to accommodate the new occupancy rules.
Beginning the first day of classes, August 17th, the Library will return to normal operating hours unless otherwise stated. Library staff would like to express that due to the circumstances, policies and operations are constantly changing. Students are encouraged to contact the Library at (731) 881-7065 for up-to-date information regarding hours and operations.
The Library was forced to change operations, along with the rest of the campus community, on March 11, 2020 following the increasing concern due to the Covid-19 pandemic. UTM plans to return to campus utilizing hybrid online/in person classes beginning August 17, 2020. For more information, visit utm.edu.
