NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The latest version of the state’s Blue Book is Tennessee orange.
The Blue Book is the Tennessee’s guide to state government. It includes information about state history and government, and contains biographies of all members of the Tennessee General Assembly.
This year’s book is dedicated to Pat Summitt, UTM alumna and the coach emeritus of the Lady Volunteers basketball team at the University of Tennessee.
“Coach Summitt has been an inspiration to countless Tennesseans first as a basketball coach and more recently as a strong advocate for Alzheimer’s research,” Secretary of State Tre Hargett said. “I am pleased that the next edition of the Tennessee Blue Book will pay tribute to her legacy.”
“As a proud Tennessean, I am honored to be recognized in the Tennessee Blue Book,” Coach Summitt said. “I’m grateful for the support I have always felt throughout the state of Tennessee and now for The Pat Summitt Foundation. I’m proud to call Tennessee my home!”
The Blue Book is published every two years by the secretary of state’s office, and the new edition was delivered to the Capitol on Monday.
Secretary of State Tre Hargett has said that the dedication reflects that Summitt has inspired countless Tennesseans, first as a basketball coach and more recently as an advocate for Alzheimer’s research.
