Men’s basketball adds three non-conference games to 2020-21 schedule

The Skyhawk men’s basketball team added three more non-conference games to their 2020-21 schedule to be played over the next seven days.

In addition to a home matchup against Evansville (Dec. 2) and a road match against Ole Miss (Dec. 22), the Skyhawks will play at home against Bethel (Dec. 7) and on the road against No. 5 Illinois (Dec. 5) and No. 11 Tennessee (Dec. 9).

The match against Illinois will be broadcasted on the Big Ten Network at 8 p.m. while the match against Tennessee will be aired on the SEC Network Plus at 6 p.m. For those unable to be in attendance at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center against Bethel, that game will be aired on ESPN Plus at 2 p.m.

The Skyhawks will face off against Illinois at the State Farm Center for the first time since Nov. 12, 2017, in which the Skyhawks fell 74-77, according to Sports Information.

The Skyhawks have been dominant against Bethel, winning the previous 13 matchups and holding a 31-21 series lead over the Wildcats. The Dec. 7 matchup will be the first official contest between the two since a 95-84 Skyhawk victory on Nov. 27, 2013, according to Sports Information.

UTM’s match against the Tennessee will be the first between the two sister schools since a 68-62 Volunteer victory on Dec. 29, 2010, according to Sports Information.

After beginning the season with four consecutive non-conference games, the Skyhawks will play Ohio Valley Conference opponent Southeast Missouri twice (Dec. 12 and 18) before playing their last scheduled non-conference game against Ole Miss.
