On Friday, February 28, 2025, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar was arrested after he was indicted on twenty-three counts. Dr. Kamar is a gynecologist located in Memphis, Tennessee. His charges include pressuring individuals into sexual acts, committing healthcare fraud, and reusing single-use medical devices on four victims.
If Kamar is found guilty on all twenty-three counts, he could face 307 years in prison. His arraignment was held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, and he is currently out on a $100,000 bond. A judge imposed several conditions for his release. Kamar is required to shut down his Poplar Avenue clinic – Women’s Health and Med Spa – and he is forbidden from practicing medicine or providing any healthcare services in any capacity.
Following the date of the arrest, current patients are not being billed. The clinic will remain open for transmission of records only. The Federal Bureau of Investigations believes that Dr. Kumar started targeting patients in September of 2019 and stopped in April 2024. Many patients have now come forward with accounts of their experience with the doctor. These patients trusted Dr. Kumar and believed he was helping them.
The FBI is currently investigating and asking that potential victims come forward. They have provided the following link for potential victims, https://forms.fbi.gov/KumarVictims/view. It is understandable that it is difficult for people to come forward in these types of situations, but if you have any information, please provide it.
