The C.E. Weldon Public Library partnered with the UTM History club to host Medieval Day Friday, April 5 at the library.
The family-geared event featured many activities for kids like coloring stations, craft tables, snacks, live music and medieval gear to play dress up.
There were over 50 attendees at the event.
Advertisements were distributed on the libraryās social media, the History Club social media and in the community, including the elementary schools.
Michelle Fieser, senior History major and president of the UTM History club from Martin, mentioned that this was not the first time her club has partnered with the library, and it wonāt be its last.
This event stemmed from a similar themed day last semester when the History club had the idea to pay homage to explorers with Pioneer Day.
Childrenās Librarian Jenny Claiborne and Library Clerk Jessie Newsome stated that the Medieval Day was a greater success.
“People just seemed to have a lot of fun today,” Claiborne said.
The library has also partnered with UTMās International Studies programs and organizations to host various culture days.
āWe love to partner with UTM. Itās one of the best hometown resources we can possibly have and we love it when the university brings ideas to us,ā Newsome said.
The library gets numerous requests to host events from various community organizations such as The Weakley County Historical and Genealogical Society, Alpha Delta Kappa, Delta Kappa Gamma and Greenbrier Meadows Assisted Living, all of whom have events planned for later this month at the library.
