Master’s program reduces credit hours

UTM students seeking to earn a master’s degree in Education or Business Administration will now have to complete fewer credit hours in order to receive the degree beginning fall 2019.

Students seeking a master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Teaching or Initial Licensure for Elementary or Secondary Education will only need to complete 36 hours instead of 42.

Students earning a master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Interdisciplinary Education and Curriculum and Instruction will only need to complete 30 hours instead of 37.

Students seeking a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in General Business will only need to complete 30 credit hours instead of 38.

The program also has a seven-week course structure. In combination with the hour reductions, graduate-level students will be able to complete their degrees in as little as three semesters or one calendar year.

The Master’s Education program will also have new options for concentrations in the coming year. The program will add new concentrations in Special Education and Literacy to the Master of Science in Education program.

The Instructional Leadership major has now added courses in Higher Education Leadership.

UTM also offers master’s degrees in Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Science and Strategic Communication.

For more information on any of the programs listed, contact the UTM Office of Graduate Programs at 731-881-7012 or visit https://www.utm.edu/departments/gradstudies/.

For students interested in seeking a master’s degree at UTM, applications are still being taken for the summer 2019 semester. The deadline for summer 2019 is May 6. The deadline for fall of 2019 is July 29.
