Martin woman arrested in connection with domestic violence report

The Martin Police Department arrested a woman Saturday in relation to reports of domestic violence.

Kimberly Adcock, 48, was taken into custody after police were dispatched to an address on Lester Lane.

Patrol officer Drew Vernon said in the police report that Adcock was outside when he arrived on the scene and attempted to blame the incident on the victim, Danny Ladd.

“[Adcock] advised that her ex-fiance/victim [Ladd] had struck her several times during an argument about getting her dog and she then picked up a large kitchen knife and stabbed the victim,” said Ptl. Vernon in the initial police report.

Ptl. Vernon reported that Adcock “changed her story [sic] multiple times” when talking to officers and that Ladd presented an alternate version of events.

According to Ptl. Vernon’s report, Ladd said that Adcock had requested an unspecified medication for which Ladd had a prescription. When Ladd refused, Adcock took a knife and stabbed him as he sat in his chair, according to the report. Ladd then alleged that Adcock chased him through the house attempting to stab him before he was able to lock her out of the house and contact his daughter.

Ladd’s daughter, Kelly Hodges, said that Ladd had called her but had hung up immediately after claiming he was being stabbed, according to the police report. A subsequent call made by a friend of Hodges reportedly resulted in Adcock answering and refusing to allow Ladd to speak on the phone.

“Both complainants advised that they could hear the victim in the background yelling for help on the phone,” said Ptl. Vernon in the police report.

Ladd was taken to Volunteer Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, including several cuts on his arm as well as a cut on the right sie of his neck below his ear.

Adcock was arrested and taken to the Martin Police Department for booking.
