The League of Striving Artists Holiday Art Bazaar, held Dec. 5-7 in the art gallery of the Fine Arts Building, raised about $2,400, said Jason Stout, associate professor Art and LSA adviser.
The bazaar sells unique items handmade by UTM students, faculty and alumni. These items include holiday cards, paintings, scarves and other textiles, ceramics, glass ornaments and more.
Stout said all proceeds would go to the LSA scholarship endowment fund and benefit art students.
This was the sixth annual holiday bazaar. The UTM Department of Visual and Theatre Arts cosponsored the event.
LSA is a student art organization that encourages art enthusiasts and students in the areas of academics, community service, leadership and artistic development. LSA also encourages art within the community by completing art-related service projects, according to a University Relations press release.
The next LSA event is the LSA Art Exhibition. It will open Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, and run through Feb. 22 in the Fine Arts Building Art Gallery. The gallery is open daily from 1-5 p.m. except when a new exhibition is under construction following an exhibition that has closed, according to the Visual and Theatre Arts website, www.utm.edu/departments/finearts/.
