Country music sensation, Lee Brice, rocked the stage Saturday, Sept. 6, at Martin’s 21st Annual Tennessee Soybean Festival.
Kicking off the night with his fourth single, Parking Lot Party from his 2012 album, Hard to Love, Brice started a party of his own. The crowd exploded as he entered the stage and Brice himself seemed amused by the feedback of the crowd.
All night he played songs pertaining to one or other of two themes he had created: Girls are crazy and guys are idiots. Each song fit with one of the two themes for the night, but it was mostly tailored around the girls for the most part.
Brice also played a lot of songs about drinking. His song, Beer, was a great crowd interaction song. The lyrics are: “Beer…I’ll take it anyway I can get…beer, I may have a problem I’ll admit it…beer I ain’t never gonna quit it…beer, it tastes good, it tastes too good…beer…Hey Freddie, I’m already ready for another down here…beer.” Each time the lyric “beer” is mentioned Brice had the crowd yell it out.
The atmosphere took a more serious turn from up-beat party songs to his more popular love ballads when Brice referred to Don’t Believe Everything you Think as “his pre-engagement song.” In April of 2013, Brice married Sara Reeveley. She and their two children now travel with him on the road.
Before Brice took the stage himself, he wrote songs for artists like, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks and the Eli Young Band. He sang some of these songs, including Crazy Girl. According to Billboard Year-End, Crazy Girl, written by Lee Brice and recorded by the Eli Young Band, was the top country song of 2011.
It seemed the night was going to end with Brice’s personal love song, I Don’t Dance, but it was only a teaser ending. Brice was so captured by the audience, he insisted his band play one more song. This seemed to more than please the audience.
