The Jacksonville State Gamecocks defeated the UTM Skyhawks in the 2013 OVC softball championship 2-0, on May 12.

Despite their efforts, the Skyhawks were unable to score a single run during the game. The first four innings proved to be tough for both teams as it was a constant battle of the quickest outs.

It was not until the bottom of the fifth inning that the Gamecocks would score a run. A wild pitch by Casey Vincent gave Hayden Crawford, center fielder for the Gamecocks, a chance to score the first run of the game.

The only other run for the remainder of the game would come from a solo shot in the bottom bottom of the sixth by Kelci Johnston.

Jacksonville State received the automatic bid to the NCAA softball championship tournament.
