HomeArts & EntertainmentIt: Chapter 2 Review

It: Chapter 2 Review

It: Chapter 2 was released in theaters on Sept. 6, 2019.

The film’s length is two hours and fifty minutes, and every minute is worth watching.

The movie takes place twenty-seven years after the Losers’ Club defeats Pennywise, but the dancing clown has returned to Derry. The beginning of the movie introduces characters that you get to know for a few minutes until the movie takes an eerie turn and leaves a sense of shock.

It gets better when the Losers are shown all grown up. The actors who play the grown-up versions of the kids are representative of who the original cast was. I was proud to see them as as successful adults; it was like a happy ending to the first movie.

I loved how the movie incorporated several scenes of their childhood together; it gave a nostalgic feeling, one that warms your heart. Those scenes are accompanied by the terrifying gore and horror that are sure to give nightmares to the kids, and even adults, who watched it.

The dark, grim visuals added eeriness to the unsettling settings and situations.

Our other antagonist, the infamous Henry Bowers, partners with Pennywise to destroy the Losers one-by-one. The way they look out for each other and stick together is what keeps our group of protagonists alive.

The characters’ different personalities make the plot of the film even more interesting. It unifies them in a way that gives them the strength and courage needed to finally end the demonic clown.

Another very important aspect of the group is how they talk and joke with each other. Their sense of humor brought more ease and comfort to each other and to the audience.

The only complaint I have is that an epilepsy warning was not given in the beginning of the film.

Did this film meet my expectations? Yes. The wait for the sequel to my favorite horror movie was worth it.

Was it scary? Definitely, I suggest bringing a friend.

Do I recommend watching it? Absolutely.

The ending brought tears to my eyes and a conclusion to the story that I am happy with.
