UTM Student Organizations:
The UTM Office of Alumni Relations and the UTM Office of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs have met numerous times throughout the summer to prepare for Homecoming 2020. As many of you are aware, we have been moving forward with plans to host both Pyramid and Ropepull, even if the events were altered in some way. With the rise in COVID-19 cases and the limitations on the number of people that can gather, we have made the difficult decision to cancel in-person Homecoming 2020 events.
We want to assure you that all options were discussed in deciding whether to host these events. With Pyramid especially, we discussed hosting a virtual event and having students record their performances. However, with the limitations on ten people gathering, student groups would find it difficult to practice with a full team. We also realize that part of the fun and attraction to Pyramid and Ropepull is having friends and family attend and cheer on participants.
We will still celebrate Homecoming 2020, but differently this year. The UTM Office of Alumni Relations and the UT Martin Student Alumni Council are working on a virtual spirit week to celebrate the Skyhawk Spirit. Even though we are going through a difficult time together, we encourage you to lift each other up during this time. We are all in this together.
As always, we are UTM Proud!
