After a little over four years of silence, Andrew Hozier-Byrne, professionally known as Hozier, has finally released his second EP Nina Cried Power.
Fans have long awaited the release of his new music for years and he has finally answered their call to action.
Nina Cried Power has only four songs: “Nina Cried Power,” “NFWMB,” “Moment’s Silence” and “Shrike.”
Each of these songs have Hozier’s signature indy-rock sound.
According to Billboard, this is just the appetizer of the main course that Hozier is planning to bring listeners in 2019.
Nina Cried Power is everything a Hozier fan would want. It is the perfect addition to his arsenal of songs.
From everyone’s favorite classic sound, to the introduction of something new, Hozier has outdone himself with this particular album.
Compared to “Take Me to Church,” “Nina Cried Power” is another song with deep meaning.
In this song, Hozier collaborates with Mavis Staples, a blues artist and Civil Rights activist, to make yet another song that combats the way this world is turning.
He opens with the words, “It’s not the waking, it’s the rising.”
Listeners could interpret this as the rising of people who are willing to work to change a system that has been repressing people since its very formation.
Hozier is one of very few artists whose music truly means something to listeners.
In current times, it is hard to find music that makes your soul feel something. Similar to previous release of his, Hozier has yanked that heartstring yet again.
Each song on this EP, whether the meaning be love or change, allows listeners to understand, take it to themselves and make their own meaning to the songs
