UTM held an opening reception of “Era of Terror,” an art exhibition by Brittney Rose on Oct 1.
The exhibition is open through Nov. 23 and can be found in the Hortense-Parrish Writing Center located in Humanities 209.
“Era of Terror” features six unique pieces filled with color and creativity. These pieces are all a combination of graphic design and spray paint and incorporate a blend of 2D and 3D art.
Many of her art pieces are made of everyday objects and other sources such as wood to give them a great number of dimensions. The artwork involves a diverse amount of medium within each individual piece.
The title “Era of Terror” is a hint to the design of a few of the pieces, which have some throwback images.
Her centerpiece is “Extravagant Evisceration,” a bright, bold piece centering on a depiction of a tiger that uses Plexiglas and wood.
A couple of other pieces are the “Human Control System,” that features a brain with a motherboard design as well as a few other interesting elements, and “Eros,” the theme being a Greek god in the form of a cherub, a glass and wood medium.
Brittney Rose is a Graphic Design major and created most of her artwork with or through the help of graphic design. Rose says her passion for art stems from curiosity and the need to see how she can manipulate certain mediums, like wood or Plexiglas.
Her artwork exemplifies her drive to find those answers rather than to tell a story. She describes her works of art as an expression of herself, wholesome and eccentric. Her only hopes and goals for her artwork are that people will come and appreciate her work.
A few of her pieces on display are available for sale. Inquiries can be emailed to brittneyArose@gmail.com or can be viewed on Instagram @girl___end.
