Get out and vote

2020 has been a crazy year, even without an election.

But here we are, with Nov. 3 staring us in the face and a choice. It’s no secret that voting among college students, often some of the most politically and ideologically engaged, still lags behind that of older Americans. This election, however, there are two good reasons to walk-in to vote or mail in your ballot.

The first is agency. 2020 has taken so much away from us; our daily lives have been completely upended. Many people feel powerless, but on Election Day you get to exercise what little power you have to great ends: deciding who will lead your nation for the next four years.

The other reason is duty. You owe it to yourself and your fellow Americans to be a full participant in the democratic process, making sure to do your part to ensure that the best candidate to lead our nation is selected.

And if you needed any more encouragement, sometimes they give you a cool sticker or a pin if you vote. If that’s not cool enough to motivate you, I don’t know what will.

See you at the ballot box.
