Family Weekend Fun

UTM is hosting its Family Weekend Sept. 14-16.

Family Weekend is an event planned by the University for students and their families to come together and experience UTM through different activities.

Last year there were approximately 600 people that attended Family Weekend.

“My hope is that families will visit our students for a great weekend on campus and experience what makes UTM an amazing place. We feel we have put together a great schedule that includes something for everyone,” said John Abel, Vice Chancellor for UTM Division of Student Affairs and coordinator for Family Weekend.

The registration fee for Family Weekend is $30 per person and includes a voucher for the food truck event, one meal ticket for the tailgate party, one general admission ticket for the football game, a t-shirt, $2 coffee voucher for Martin Coffeehouse and discounts to local restaurants.

The registration fee for the Bow Tie 5k is $15 and includes a t-shirt. The waiver form for the 5k is online at www.utm.edu/familyweekend and must be turned in at the onsite check-in on the Elam Center Lawn. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m.

The Sunday Bowtie Brunch will be held from 10 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. and costs $12.21 plus tax for adults and $5.78 plus tax for children 12 and under.

Registration for Family Weekend is required for non-students and is required for everyone who wants to participate in the Bow Tie 5k. Students can also use their Skyhawk card to get into the football game for free. The first 500 students to come to the game will receive a free Family Weekend t-shirt.

The schedule for Family Weekend is as follows:

Friday:

  • 5 p.m. Family Weekend Registration Opens- Virginia Weldon Park, Downtown Martin
  • 5:30- 7:30 p.m. Food Truck Night- Virginia Weldon Park

Saturday:

  • 8 a.m. Bow Tie 5k/ One Mile Walk Registration Opens- Elam Center Lawn
  • 9 a.m. Bow Tie 5k/ One Mile Walk Begins- Elam Center Lawn
  • 10 a.m. Donuts with Deans- Martin Coffeehouse, 407 South Lindell St.
  • Noon- 2:30 p.m. Tailgate Party- Hardy Graham Football Stadium
  • 1- 5 p.m. Student Recreation Center open to all students and parents
  • 3 p.m. Kickoff UTM vs. UTC
  • 7 p.m. Dinner specials available at multiple Martin restaurants. Check Family Weekend packet for details
  • 9 p.m. Drive-In Movie, Avengers: Infinity War– Pacer Pond

Sunday:

  • 9:30 a.m. Student Led Non-Denominational Worship Service- Watkins Auditorium University Center
  • 10:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. Bowtie Brunch- UTM Dining Hall
  • 1- 11 p.m. Student Recreation Center open to all students and parents

The Family Weekend events at UTM are a time for the university to host events that unite students, family and tradition for a better home atmosphere in Martin, Tennessee.
