UT Martin’s Paul Meek Library is hosting the Discovery Hub, an interactive display showcasing the university’s connection with 19 countries represented campus, through March 31.
Students can explore different aspects of the world through various activities, such as checking out DVDs about travel, crafting projects, and learning to 3D print with a pen. They are encouraged to participate in various areas or simply look around at all the spectacular places represented at UT Martin.
“Our Discovery Hub is always looking for opportunities to connect with our students, faculty and staff and collaborate with other departments on campus,” said Patricia Sanders, the Media Center supervisor. “My favorite part is looking at the places that students want to travel to and sharing my love of traveling and wanting to explore the world. Students should feel free to explore at their own pace for this event as well.”
The program provides an opportunity for students to take a break from their studies and explore
knowledge creation and consumption. It also offers a chance for students to connect and explore
different regions of the world. Students can write where they would love to visit on an interactive
drawing table.
The event also features a puzzle table for students to work together to build a beautiful picture of the
world.
The Media Center also offers a variety of resources available for both academic and personal projects,
such as group study rooms, presentation equipment, and a 3D printer, among other resources made
available year-round.
The Discovery Hub’s purpose is to showcase traveling to students while opening the opportunity for students to see how they can explore the world.
UT Martin is spread all over the world, with links to Angola, Belarus, Canada, Dominica, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Spain/Canary Islands, Sweden, the United Kingdom and Vietnam.
Students are encouraged to visit and offer suggestions for future themes. The Media Center also will roll out its next event, Artists’ Masquerade, on April 1 and it will feature the League of Striving Artists,
including a secret gallery showcasing freshmen and sophomore artwork. The monthlong event will
include a one-day workshop on April 29.
