ENGAGE: Prof discusses art of literature

Dr. John Glass, UTM associate professor of English, was one of the participants in an “Engage the Times” session Friday, Feb. 26, held via Zoom. Glass, along with other faculty and students, discussed the role of art and music in human history, both modern and ancient. The session featured a conversation about the subjectivity of art and how modern-day people perceive art differently than their ancient counterparts. Glass spoke on the art of literature in the English language, saying there is a unique Southern style of literature that is underappreciated in the wider topic of English literature. Glass has taught at UTM for 15 years and also is director of the university’s Honors Programs. Photo credit / Eddy Alvarez
